DISTRIBUTION
The worldwide supply of strong documentary films is very large and colorful, but sadly that is not the case in the commercial distribution circuit. That is why DOCVILLE does not limit itself to putting together a big international film festival, but works all year round on various projects that promote the distribution of documentary films. ‘DOCVILLE on Tour’ helps to distribute films in movie theaters: every year a selection of films travels through Flanders and Brussels. DOCVILLE also works on digital distribution: the festival has its own channel on Telenet Digitaal where you find a series of highlights from previous festivals. And then there is our documentary database. By putting all the data on the submitted films at the disposal of programmers, organizers and schools they can get information about the mass of films available.
DOCVILLE ON TOUR
Both in 2010 and 2011 a selection of the extensive DOCVILLE-program went ‘on tour’ across Flanders and in Brussels. In both areas about fifteen locations (cultural centers, art centers and movie theaters) screened the films. The program consisted of both Belgian films and international productions.
2012 will see another DOCVILLE ‘on tour’ starting in September. The titles will be announced immediately after the festival. We can already give away that ‘Project NIM’ (which won the Directing Award at the Sundance Film Festival) will be included!

DOCVILLE gemist de vorige jaren? Het festival brengt raad: Op Telenet Digitaal kan u vanaf 13 april terecht voor een exclusieve selectie hoogtepunten uit de voorbije edities van DOCVILLE. Op het menu staan toppers als 'Mr. Vig And The Nun' (winnaar DOCVILLE 2007) en 'Stranded' (Winnaar DOCVILLE 2008) of het Oscar-genomineerde 'If a Tree Falls'.
