Jan Fabre at the State Hermitage Museum

Directed by Wannes Peremans
Belgium, France | 56 min. | Dutch, English, Russian (English subtitled)

Belgian artist Jan Fabre has the honour of being the first living artist to be allowed to organize an art show in the renowned State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg in Russia. But there is a lot involved in a large-scale exhibition. Director Wannes Peremans offers a unique insight in both the pros and cons of one of the most important museums in the world, as well as in Jan Fabre's personal life.

Jan Fabre at the Hermitage follows the artist as he organizes his big exhibition in the renowned State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. It is a very big deal, because there is a lot involved in putting on such a large-scale exhibition. In addition, there is the sometimes difficult relationship between a quirky Fabre and an old museum. It is fascinating to see the famous artist at work. A side note for the fans: the exhibition in Russia runs until the end of April 2017.
