The Farthest Emer Reynolds

Summer 1977. Voyager 1 and 2 are launched into space. Unmanned, but in possession of a golden record with a message for extraterrestrial intelligent life, the spaceships are on their way to deep space. To celebrate their 40th birthday, Emer Reynolds presents a visual ode to the mission and everyone who was involved at the time.

Each Voyager contains a message for any intelligent life the Voyager could come into contact with: the famous golden record with music and photographs of our planet and humanity. Ever since the Voyagers were flown out of the solar system in 2013, they have been exploring new territory, on a yet unmatched mission. The film shows what is on the golden record and which ideas and willpower was needed to launch these spaceships. Breathtaking images of space are interspersed with interviews of people who are on the golden record and scientists who participated in the project. Is this mankind’s greatest achievement to date?
