UnrestJennifer Brea
For many people, including doctors, fibromyalgia and CFS are still unknown conditions. All too quickly, people are told to get psychological support. The director, frustrated by the lack of efficient medical treatment, films herself on her long path to healing and goes in search of fellow sufferers.
There is still no symptom-controlling treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Patients often face many prejudices, such as that their illness would be purely psychological in nature. That is what happened to Jennifer, who out of pure frustration captured her suffering on camera and soon found a worldwide network of victims. Thanks to them Jennifer found the strength to finish a full-fledged film. Unrest is not only a tribute to her inspiring companions but also manages to create more awareness. Unrest was literally directed from a sickbed. Using a variety of technological gadgets, Jennifer was able to communicate live with her camera team from a distance. These images are supplemented with a video diary filmed on Jennifers iPhone, in which the viewer participates in her experiences in the most intimate way. The film won the Special Jury Award for Documentary Editing at Sundance and was on the Oscars shortlist.
