KediCeyda Torun

For many years, more than 100,000 cats have roamed the streets of Istanbul. They have become part of the city and contribute to its magical atmosphere. The cats belong to no one and everyone, they are neither wild nor tame. Yet they often have a special bond with one or more people.

The Istanbul cats hold up a mirror to 'their' people and make them think about the world and themselves in a way no one or nothing else can. Cat lover or not: you will fall for this worldwide box office hit about the lives of 7 stray cats in Istanbul. For her debut film director Ceyda Torun designed a special camera with which she could film at 'cat height', so that the film contains a lot of unique action images and the cats become real characters. But Kedi is not just a cat film, it is a beautiful ode to Istanbul, its cats and its inhabitants.
