Life to ComeClaudio Capana

At a neonatal ward mother Laurence and her very premature twins fight an exhausting and intense battle: a fight for survival. Life to Come is an intimate portrait of a life full of hope for improvement, fatigue, frustration and fear of death. It is a movie which shows a lot, but also raises questions about life in its early stages and what it means for children and parents.

The twins Eden and Leandro are born prematurely, after less than 6 months of pregnancy. From their first hours of life, they are forced to fight alongside their mother Laurence in a modern neonatal ward. Surrounded by tubes and machines, but also by a concerned medical group, the young ones try to overcome major problems – which they have, among other things, with their breathing and internal bleeding.

Like an intimate guardian of Eden and Leandro's life, Life to Come tells a story with tremendous empathy and from a surprising point of view of premature twins in all their fragility. Filmmaker Claudio Capanna – himself born prematurely – offers an intimate glimpse into the neonatology department of the Brussels Erasme Hospital.
