March of the Penguins 2: The CallLuc Jacquet

After two months of filming in chilling cold weather in Antarctica, Luc Jacquet returns with a second documentary that captures the life of penguins. And what a picture! It was filmed from all sides: using drones and submarines, all in high definition 4K. The first film focused on the mating ritual of the penguin, but in this amazing sequel the courageous filmmaker explores the 'vocation' or 'call' of this magnificent animal.

How does it feel to live in a freezer? What's behind that strong instinct that drives penguins to go on tour? How do they survive? We become witnesses of this great adventure and experience the journey through the eyes of a young penguin who is subject to his first vocation and leaves for an unknown destination. We see how the little animal carves its way through the cracking ice and swims through icy water. We sympathize with his (supposedly) thoughts, fears and relief.

Despite the dangers the animal and the film crew had to deal with - either the risks of predators or the effects of climate change - the film is primarily a tribute to freedom, cuteness and lightness. A film about an amazing journey full of challenges. Remember to wear a warm sweater!
