5th EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL
DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL LEUVEN

Saturday, May 2nd, the fifth edition of DOCVILLE will start. Documentary film will be the focus of the entire city of Leuven.
The festival uses its well tried and enjoyed formula: a surveyable, strongly selected programme of the best contemporary national and international documentary films. The focus lies on cinematographically strong films with a personal approach, films with character, author documentaries that can tell us something. DOCVILLE represents freshness and originality, but also diversity: the documentary film world is large, colourful and diversified, the DOCVILLE programme is just the same.
The DOCVILLE-jury will award a SCAM and CANVAS award for best national and international documentary. Aside from the competitive section DOCVILLE presents a number of specials, retrospectives and avant-premières.
DOCVILLE will present +/- 50 different titles, 75 screenings and 3 different locations (STUK, Studio Filmtheaters, Bibliotheek Tweebronnen)

DOCVILLE NOMINATED FOR ARTS AWARDS

 January 5th, the nominations were presented for the Flemish Arts Awards. We are very proud to annonce that DOCVILLE is one of them. Other nominees in the category "film" are Fien Troch and Nicolas Karakatsanis.

DOCVILLE is a project by non-for-profit organisation Fonk vzw, which also runs the International Short Film Festival Leuven, the dvd label Selected Shorts and the arthouse cinema Cinema ZED. |

| CALL FOR ENTRIES DOCVILLE 2009 |
Documentary filmmakers that would like to present their work and participate in the international competition can send in their work by filling out the entry form.
Participating films should be:
- Finished after January 1st 2008
- Not yet distributed nor broadcasted in Belgium
- Accepted screening formats: 35mm, 16mm, Beta SP, Beta Digi, HDV, HDCAM, DV, DVCAM, Mini-DV, Blu Ray
