De toekomst van het onderwijs in Vlaanderen.

In recent decades, education has gradually paid more attention to well-being, personal development, attention to personal interests and intrinsic motivation. The current government seems to want to shift the focus back to pure knowledge transfer and a top-down approach. Here and there, a connection is made between the greater focus on experience-oriented education and the less good PISA results. But is that correct? What should prevail in education: a focus on pure knowledge transfer and performance or a broader view, in which there is also room for the individuality of the children? And do these two things contradict each other or not?

Panel discussion with Ronni Hermans (one of the very first teachers of the Appeltuin and one of the protagonists from the film), Katrien Nijs (class teacher and pedagogical supervisor in Freinet primary and secondary education), Geert Kelchtermans (professor and head of the Centre for Educational Innovation and Teacher and School Development (COOLS) at KU Leuven), Piet Van Avermaet (UGent) and Koen Daniels (representative, and expert education NVA). Moderated by Soetkin Bulcke.
