All The Seas I See
Azur Aurran Schleinitz Belgium, France 2025 16 min.
Cephalopods—animals like octopuses and squids—are older than vertebrates. Like humans, they are seen at their evolutionary peak. But what can these invertebrates teach us about survival? All The Seas I See is a poetic exploration of ethology and neuroscience, blurring the line between the two in the cadence of the tides.

In this hybrid documentary, LUCA alumnus Azur Aurran Schleinitz explores the parallel evolutionary paths of humans and these fascinating creatures. Where science—ethology—attempts to capture animal behavior in laboratories and observations, this film seeks out the space beyond. It is an exploration of adaptation: the necessary transformation that every living body must undergo in order to survive in a changing habitat.
All the Seas I See is a constant ebb and flow between rigorous scientific data and poetry. By interweaving the collected thoughts of neuroscientists with narrative reflections, Schleinitz asks how cephalopods and humans behave in order to survive, and what kind of adaptive behavior arises from their psychology.
