Team Rudy

In this warm, intimate, and often disarmingly funny documentary, director Nic Balthazar follows actor-writer Rudy Morren, who surrounds himself with a close-knit group of friends after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. As he undergoes major brain surgery, his “Team” grows into a powerful network of solidarity and hope. For creator Nic Balthazar, the project is also personal: his father also lives with Parkinson's disease.

When actor and author Rudy Morren is diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, his life seems to come to a standstill. Instead of retreating, he walks into his local bar and openly asks for help. This quickly leads to the creation of “Team Rudy”: a colorful and loving group of friends, colleagues, and neighbors who surround him in the most difficult moments, but also in unique celebrations full of humor and emotion.

The core group includes actor Michaël Pas and young theater maker Aline Cornelissen, who, together with Rudy, continue to explore how art, friendship, and care can reinforce each other. An intimate cinéma vérité film about friendship, solidarity, and the power of sharing the burden in a new kind of “collective informal care.”
