Two years ago, film school student Sofie Peeters moved to Brussels. To her surprise, she was confronted with a sexist phenomenon anytime she walked around outside. Every day men talked down to her, tried to hit on her or simply yelled abusive language. She decided to pick up her camera and find out what this phenomenon does to women, how they deal with it and where it comes from. The result became her graduation project, ‘Femme de la Rue’, and sparked a big media debate.
