Man OomanAndreas Johnsen

Anyone who has flicked on the tv and ended up on a music channel knows them: the music videos in which dangerously curvy women drape themselves around machos. You ain’t seen nothing yet. Those videos are bland versions of the real deal. Man Ooman paints a shocking picture of the extremely sexually agressive, slightly absurd dancehall style from Jamaica, and of the subculture in which it is embedded. Jamaica combines a high murder rate with great poverty, an immense amount of churches and a very vibrant music culture. The way men and women perceive and interact with each other is – from a western perspective – unfathomable.
