Musee de l'inconnuIef Spincemaille, Kurt d’Haeseleer

Last year, Ief Spincemaille, Leuven’s official City Artist, created a temporary installation on the lawn of St. Maartensdal. In exactly the same spot, we will show a film about this project and what it triggered in open air and for free.

In September last year, Leuven’s City Artist Ief Spincemaille built a small earthen museum on the lawn of the residential St. Maartensdal. The museum’s collection consisted of models and replicas of his own work of the last four years. It deals with light, air, vast distances and the horizon. Spincemaille received a lot of visitors in the museum and spent hours wandering door to door. People brought him food, shouted things from the balconies and invited him to sleep over.

After two weeks, the museum was closed. The reflective roof of the museum was removed so that the rain would return the structure back to nature. “Musee De l'inconnu" was a quest for the unknown in a world unknown to the artist. This journey was filmed and made into a short film which will be shown on May 4 on the big screen, on the lawn where the museum previously stood. The audience will not only be able to sit on the lawn, but can also watch from the balconies of the residents of Block 1, the same place where they saw the project flourish and perish.

Open air screening, 4th of May - 21u00 lawn Sint-Maartensdal / Minckelersstraat 64 (free entrance)
