NйnetteNicolas Philibert

Nénette is the oldest orangutan in the Paris zoo: she is forty years old and has spent the majority of her life there. The film observes the animal in her cage, as she looks down – quite bored – at visitors talking about her, at elderly people who have decided they are her friends and at caretakers who are explaining to the visitors who she is. Gradually we realize this movie is not just about a monkey… Director Philibert, known from his documentary “Etre et Avoir”, presents us with a strange, but fascinating film.
