Personal TruthCharlie Lyne

December 2016: the climax of “Pizzagate”. After months of online speculation and conspiracy theories– several leading politicians of the Democratic Party would be using a local pizzeria as a home base for a paedophile network – Edgar Welch took action. Why did he believe so strongly in this implausible story?

Edgar Welch entered the pizza place fully armed to single handily rescue the alleged victims. Welch thought he would be the hero of the story but became a national fall-guy. How did he get so blinded by the most frantic conspiracy theories? Director Charlie Lyne, once a believer of a similar British story, composes a sympathetic portrait of Welch’s who is consumed by his ‘personal truth’.
