Sam Klemke's Time MachineMatthew Bate

In 1977, long before our current obsession with selfies and status updates, Sam Klemke started documenting his life on film. He documents his evolution from an optimistic teenager, to an obese thirty-something full of self-ridicule to a rather philosophical man in his fifties. It was also in 1977 that NASA launched the Voyager carrying the Golden Record: a sketch of mankind to inform extrerrestrials. Director Matthew Bate merges these two portraits in a airy film about time, memory and what it means to be human.
