Samsara, Sanskrit for "circle of rebirth”, is the third collaboration between cinematographer Ron Fricke (Koyaanisqatsi and producer Mark Magidson. Following the audiovisual experiences Chronos (1985) and Baraka (1992), the duo thus steadily builds a non-narrative and non-verbal body of work which does not fit any description. Once again they explore the spatiotemporal limits, which results in a series of stunning time-lapses but also in an incomprehensible production process, spread out over five years and 25 countries The result is a staggering spiritual inspection along worldly wonders and social contradictions .
