Jykri lives in Salla, a small town in Lapland near the Russian border. Jyrki’s family business, a chain of stores, has gone bankrupt. The economic recession has done a lot of damage. Unemployment is sky high and what at one time was a popular skiing destination, is becoming more and more of a ghost town. Attempts to bring the area back to life threaten to fail because of actions of various interest groups. In different chapters, the director shows how not only nature can be cruel in the North.
