Detective Tom Grant has a controversial theory: Cobain did not commit suicide but was murdered. And maybe Grant knows what he’s talking about. In the beginning of April 1994, he received a call from Courtney Love, when her husband had gone missing from a rehab clinic he was voluntarily staying in. Dylan Carlson, a friend of Cobain and Love’s, joined Grant for a hopeless search mission in Seattle. The whole situation confused Grant more and more. The contradictory statements of widow Courtney Love convinced Grant that there was more to the singer’s death. He decided to investigate and made some remarkable discoveries. Moreover, he recorded all of his conversations. Since Courtney Love does not agree with the theory or with the film, director Statler had to be creative. He works with actors and he reconstructs what could be the last days in the life of Kurt Cobain. There is hard evidence handed on a silver platter, so “Soaked in Bleach” has more credibility than your average conspiracy movie. After watching this documentary, you might be just as convinced as Grant that Cobain was murdered.
