The CoveLouie Psihoyos

The children’s series “Flipper”, starring a clever dolphin as its main character, was a huge succes throughout the sixties and made people all over the world flock to dolphinariums. It is obvious that people love dolphins, but it is less certain that they feel the same way about us. Dolphins living in captivity are prone to disease and many of them only survive a few years.Taiji, a town on the Japanese coast, is the mecca of the dolphin industry: every year thousands of dolphins are captured there and sold off to many different dolphinaria. The remaining animals are slaughtered, far away from the public eye, in a desolate bay. Cameras and environmentalists have always been kept far away, until now.
