Art photographer Vik Muniz returns to his birth place Rio De Janeiro with an ambitious plan: he wants to create portraits with garbage, working togheter with “catadores”: the people who live and work on the world’s largest landfill – filled with waste from the richest areas of the city. Muniz’s project turned out to make a huge impact on their lives. As the garbage they pick and collect becomes art, so do the lives of these marginalized people regain their value.
