Song from the Forest tells the story of Louis Sarno, an American who has fallen under the spell of a song that he happened to hear on the radio. He follows the song deep into the rainforests of Central Africa, where he reaches the Bayaka. He stays put, learns the language, falls in love and has a son, Samedi. Louis promises his son to one day show him his native country. Now the time has come to keep that promise: he takes thirteen-year-old Samedi to America, where a new world unfolds in front of Samedi's eyes. This visually stunning documentary film had its world premiere at IDFA 2013 and won the grand prize there.
