For two years filmmaker Nikolaus Geyrhalter travelled around Europe to record how our food is produced . Olives are shaken off branches with an infernal din, chicks are catapulted onto the line at a constant pace, a woman does nothing but cut off pigs feet all day ... The aloof attitude of the director give the scenes an almost unearthly, weird, abstract beauty that reflects the cold, soulless way companies from the food industry proceed. This haunting documentary won the Special Jury Award at IDFA and was nominated as Best Documentary at the European Film Awards.
