In 1972 the plane carrying the Uruguayan rugby team crashes in the Andes. The survivors are able to survive for ten weeks on a glacier at a height of 4000 meters. 35 years later, the story and the fact that 16 out of 45 of them survived the disaster, is still well-known. How they managed to do this, was something that shocked the world . The director and a number of survivors travel to the crash site, as he lets them tell the story of how they made it through the endless weeks on the glacier with nothing more than cigarettes, a radio and the shelter of the wreck.
