Anita, Louise and Alice are three Alzheimer’s patients who live together with five others in an apartment called Iduna, a project of their nursing home De Bijster. These three women are in the first stage of the disease: flurries of lucidity, forgetfulness and oblivion alternate constantly. As the women talk about their lives, it becomes clear that with their memory loss their (self)consciousness is crumbling too. Lost down Memory Lane was released in Belgian cinemas in September and set a new box office record for documentaries.
