A good ten years ago, a terrifying phenomenon started to take place across the planet: hundreds of thousands of honey bee colonies seem to have vanished. Is this a temporary setback or is something else going on? Could it be a virus? Pesticides? No one knows the answer. What is certain is that nature's and humanity's fate are linked with that of bees. With astonishing visual flair, director Markus Imhoof takes his audience into the honeybee's world. He travels from the Alps down to Arizona, trying to find answers by calling upon beekeepers and scientists.
