For many years, Liege journalist David Leloup followed the eventful life of Rudolf Elmer, a Swiss banker who could no longer stand to watch the malpractices of his own company and decided to make them public. When he first leaked information to the then unknown WikiLeaks in 2008, he had no idea what the consequences would be.
He loses his job, has to deal with threats and intimidation and faces a series of court proceedings. He spends a long time in preventive detention, without any evidence, simply because he cooperated with WikiLeaks. The documents he leaked do contain incredible amounts of information on the shady practices in the international banking world. “A Leak in Paradise” offers a revealing and alarming insight into the unknown world of offshore banking and international tax evasion.
