Belgian-Dutch Martin Uit den Bogaard is one of the world's most renowned bio-artists. His art is controversial to say the least: via electrodes, voltmeters and computers he converts energy from dead biological tissue – which he gathers from animals, plants and humans - to sound and image. As his life's work, he wants to use his own body, after his death, as a work of art. ‘Cells’ challenges the viewer to think about his own mortality and makes us wonder whether a body is composed only of cells?
