The Peter Plan
Grzegorz Pacek Poland 2024 72 min.
For Peter, the controversial condition known as Electromagnetic Hypersensitvity (EHS) is not a matter of debate. He experiences intense pain and discomfort in the vicinity of electricity, even from small devices like a mobile phone. He flees his hometown and cuts contact with his family and with society. As he retreats deeper and deeper into the wilderness in search of a safe place to live, he becomes a hermit, an outsider who no longer fits into this world.

This moving documentary does not question the reality of Peter’s condition, which is not recognized by the medical world. His suffering, and above all the impossibility of escaping it, is portrayed with great empathy. The film crew went to extraordinary lengths to realize the shoot without exposing Peter to electricity: the film was shot on celluloid, and an ingenious system was devised to keep the microphones at a distance. This approach gives the film a distinctive beauty, perfectly attuned to the ‘untouched’ world Peter is desperately searching for.
